I have been licensed to practice law in Arizona since 2002.  I am licensed to practice before all Arizona State Courts and the United States District Court for the Districts of Arizona and New Mexico.  I am a member of the Arizona State Bar, American Bar Association and Maricopa County Bar Association.  I have focused primarily on family law and personal injury law since 2003.  I firmly believe that the vast majority of cases should end with a negotiated settlement, but I also regularly appear in court for hearings and trials when issues cannot be resolved by mutual agreement of the parties. I handle cases from the very beginning through the trial.  In addition, I draft appellate briefs and argue cases before the Arizona Court of Appeals.

In representing clients, lawyers must learn more about them than just about anyone else the clients deal with.  This is particularly true in family law cases. It is important that clients feel comfortable with their attorney.  So, a little about me: originally from the Chicago area, I graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.  During college, I decided to explore and expand beyond my Midwestern roots, spending summers working as an intern in Washington, D.C. and clerking for judges in Phoenix and Sacramento.  I returned to the Midwest for law school, attending Case Western Reserve University School of Law where I graduated cum laude. I am AV Rated by Martindale-Hubbell.

After shoveling one too many driveways in the Midwest, I packed up the day after graduation and began driving to Phoenix, where I have lived ever since.  I began my legal career at Tiffany & Bosco, P.A., first as an associate and then as a partner.  I then moved to The Law Offices of Scott David Stewart, PLLC.  Now I have my own firm.

I am a member of the Ahwatukee Chamber of Commerce and have previously served on the Board of Directors for the American Heart Association, Phoenix-Metro Division.  I have also presented free monthly seminars for people contemplating divorce.   I write a monthly article for Ocotillo Living Magazine.  I love Phoenix, the desert and all the great outdoor activities Arizona has to offer.  I enjoy hiking and running.  In 2011, I started competing in half marathons throughout the Valley.

My family law practice includes all aspects of dissolution of marriage or divorce cases, such as child custody and support matters, spousal maintenance or alimony, division of assets and debts.  In addition, I handle issues that parties need to resolve after their divorce, known as post-decree matters.  Before people get married, I will help them with prenuptial or premarital agreements.   My personal injury practice consists of negligence cases, oftentimes arising out of a car accident or slip and fall.  I also help people establish and administer guardianship and conservatorship cases.  Please call today to schedule a consultation to discuss the particulars of your situation.
